Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new Fleet Pilot portal, providing fleet operators with real-time vehicle insights across multiple brands, eliminating the need for additional hardware. The web-based platform, initially available in selected European markets including the UK, provides fleet managers with a comprehensive overview of their operations through clear dashboards, charts, and tables that display key performance data.
Replacing the previous Connect Business portal, Fleet Pilot marks the first time a vehicle manufacturer has launched a fleet management system capable of integrating data from different brands without retrofitting. Existing Connect Business users are being transferred to the new system at no additional charge, while new customers can trial Fleet Pilot with their own vehicles for free until the end of the month following registration.
The portal offers transparent, data-driven insights designed to help fleet managers optimise processes and reduce running costs. Features such as real-time location tracking, detailed journey histories and early maintenance notifications can be activated as required. Crucially, all services are available directly from the factory, eliminating the need for additional hardware installation.
Thanks to its multi-brand compatibility, the platform can be used across mixed fleets. The currently supported brands and services are listed within the portal, with more to be added as the system develops.
Fleet Pilot users can access four advanced service modules, which can be individually activated for each vehicle: Tracking & Geofencing, Trip List, Vehicle Status, and Efficiency & Trends. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that further features will be introduced in future updates, including integration with Mercedes-Benz Van Uptime Monitor and the option to book service appointments online.
Security has been a key focus in the platform’s design. Two levels of protection ensure the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of all data. Each vehicle is fitted with a built-in communication module containing a crash-proof SIM card, which allows information such as mileage and service intervals to be securely encrypted and transmitted via the mobile network to the vehicle’s back-end systems.
To maintain high cybersecurity standards, Mercedes-Benz carries out continuous external audits, applying preventive measures where needed to strengthen the system. Customers are fully informed about the data collected and its intended use, and they retain control over how their information is shared.
The Fleet Pilot portal is currently operational in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands, with plans to expand to additional European markets in the near future.
By introducing Fleet Pilot, Mercedes-Benz aims to give fleet managers a smarter, simpler way to monitor performance and efficiency across diverse fleets, combining convenience, security and flexibility within a single manufacturer-backed digital platform.
